The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) ensures a strict, merit-based selection process for the ALP position. Candidates will need to clear the following stages:

1. First Stage CBT (CBT 1): A computer-based test used for screening candidates.
2. Second Stage CBT (CBT 2): A more detailed exam containing trade-specific questions and general engineering topics.
3. Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT): Mandatory psychological testing for ALP candidates.
4. Document Verification (DV): Verification of your educational certificates, identity, and category proofs.
5. Medical Examination: Strict medical fitness tests, specifically focusing on the A-1 visual standards required to operate a train.
